Auckland and the rest of Aotearoa are rich in visitor experiences. Find out more on these pages:
Auckland tourism resources: A wide range of tours and visitor attractions can be booked through the Auckland Council tourism office. Specialist Māori tours (and a range of other custom experiences) are available for Auckland and throughout Aotearoa from Navigator Tours. Mārae visits, kayaking and kite fishing along with a range of other tours are also provided by Time Unlimited. More
Auckland attractions: We recommend some tours and attractions to complement a sail on Te Aurere, including two Māori operations (one in the City and one at the very north of Auckland). There is also a rich resource of Māori artefacts and a cultural performance at the Auckland Museum. MOTAT and the Maritime Museum highlight transport. More
Public art: Auckland has a rich collection of public art which can be visited for free. The works are in various suburbs around the City including some close to Te Aurere’s berth at the Maritime Museum and nearby in the Domain. Some, like the “Wayfinder” in New Lynn and the “Arc” in the Domain, provide perspectives on waka. More
Outside Auckland: There are a multitude of places to go and things to do outside Auckland ;-) These include some Māori tourism businesses and sites with a high content of Māori artefacts, like the Museum of New Zealand - Te Papa Tongarewa. Its collection includes a one-third scale model of Te Aurere. More
