Sailings

Arawai Ltd makes best endeavours to ensure that the advertised sailing programme is up-to-date and that sailings take place.  However, Arawai Ltd reserves the right to cancel sailings for operational reasons (including adverse weather conditions) or other reasons.  The dates displayed in the calendar and the booking form are indicative only.  Please check availability when you book as places are also limited. 

Cancellations

Full refunds or transfers to other sailings will be made if sailings are cancelled by Arawai Ltd only when bookings have been pre-paid.  Payments for bookings for sailings cancelled by patrons within 24 hours of the sailing are non-refundable.  Payments for bookings cancelled one day prior to sailing but less than eight days prior to sailing will be subject to a 50% administration fee.  Payments for bookings cancelled eight of more days prior to the sailing are subject to a 10% administration fee.

Safety

The waka “Te Aurere” is an exceptionally safe vessel.  It has been through five major storms at sea and passed with flying colours.  Passengers receive a full safety briefing at the start of the sail and can use a lifevest if they wish (although the stability of the waka means that people typically don’t for sailing in the Harbour).  The waka is fully accredited in the Maritime New Zealand Safe Ship Management system  and the crew are well trained for harbour, coastal and ocean sailing.  Passengers are, however, required at all times to take all reasonable precautions for their own safety and the safety of any person in their care (particularly children). This includes (but is not limited to) staying within the guard rails as provided around the vessel at all times, appropriately restraining children and ensuring that children are accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, and paying attention and following to the safety briefing given by crew.

Arawai Limited accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or injury to luggage or personal effects or loss, damage or injury to the passenger arising out of or in any way incidental or connected to its services whether such loss, damage or injury may be due or alleged to be due wholly or partly to negligence or misconduct or fault on the part of Arawai Ltd, its servants or agents.

Application

Passengers are carried on the waka subject to these terms and conditions, which the passenger by purchasing a sailing acknowledges having read and understood, and agrees to be bound by them.
