Te Aurere is based at the Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum on Hobson Wharf.  It is at 175 Quay Street in downtown Auckland, by the main entrance to the Viaduct Basin and next to Princes Wharf.

The museum can be reached by any bus or train terminating at the Britomart Transport Centre in Queen Street.  There is convenient parking in the Downtown Carpark entered from Customs Street West.  It is reached from Sturdee Street or from Quay Street as Customs Street West is one-way eastbound at the carpark.  There is a pedestrian bridge across Lower Hobson Street  from Level 2 of the carpark.  There is parking for persons with disabilities  on Level 2 at the north-west corner, next to the pedestrian bridge, and a lift on the western side of the bridge next to the Kermadec Restaurant.
